Spring is in the Air: Polymer Clay Fever

Spring is in the Air: Polymer Clay Fever

Lots of white Polymer Clay, Flowers, Butterflies, and Leaves, that's what you'll find on my work desk today!

This lovely Spring weather has inspired me to create a Floral Teapot, to add to my growing collection.
Keep watching for updates on my Teapot to see how I finish it. I'm not sure if I will keep it all white, or maybe use some Patina Inks to add some subtle color washes. My neighbor stopped by to purchase 2 Butterfly Necklaces for her daughters, she saw me working on the Floral Teapot and loved it, so this one is already sold. I think everyone seems to love butterflies as much as I do:) Here is the completed
teapot, I used a turquoise patina ink, verdigris, and olive green. The finishing touch was the hi-lighting
done in 18K gold leaf.

I enjoy gardening & butterflies, so I always try to plant flowers that will attract colorful butterflies. My verbenas are just starting to bloom, in all their purple splendor!

Polymer Clay Kitty Cat Teapot

Black & White Kitty-Cat Teapot stands only
3 1/2" tall and is sculpted from Fimo polymer clay over a
small appliance light-bulb. I used an assortment of my
handmade black & white canes
to decorate the little fellow. The tiny teapot will actually
hold water & can be used as a vase too!

Tea for Two- Polymer Clay Teapots

Tea for Two...What I call my Recycling Craft is another one of my polymer clay based obsessions. Finding crafty uses for burned out light-bulbs that would otherwise be discarded. Every one I know collects their old light-bulbs for me & I'm getting a huge stash of all shapes & sizes! Who isn't charmed by a tiny tea set? Toddlers to Grandmas, find them fun to play with & collect. My mini 2.5" teapot with matching cups reminds me of the whimsical style of Mary Engelbreit. She is known for her greeting cards & classic children's book illustrations.

"If you don't like something, change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it. "
Mary Engelbreit
Here are a few of her teapot illustrations, she is well-known for her cherries & flowers:)

These 2 teeny-weeny teapots are only an 1.5" tall & are made from night-light bulbs! The lids are removable & the pots will hold water. The light-bulb screw base was broken off by tapping it at the base with a butter knife handle. I hope you like my little teapots!
